I reach
for what is not
and find myself lost
in the cerebral catacombs
of my mind
denying
fear or desperation
I sing
praising the sanctity
of ancient bones
I go for picnics
in graveyards
look for the sunrise
at midnight
by
the book
by the calendar
by the minute hand
I create vain
and leisurely chronicles
of the past

I ask
when were you born?
when
did the Russian revolution
really begin?
what is your favourite?
has the computer
changed the nature
of American politics?
where was it?
did Shakespeare
change the nature
of English drama?
how come?
how often
do you cum?

looking
from hindsight
having lost
my foresight

I slow dance
and shadow box
with the apparitions
of my mind
like
a dream
I find myself
walking
on dry grass
to palaces
of no accord
on barren cement
to rooms
of no beauty
on feet
of weakness
through hallways
of boredom
on paths
of stone
through forests
of indifference
suddenly
one day
